Challenge:
McBride had a customized ERP program which was used to collect employee worked hours performed calculations based on the state of California’s rules for overtime. These hours were then exported via a CSV file format to Sage Abra. The main drawback of this program was that it did not perform any payroll functions or customization data mapping inside Sage Abra, one of which was employee garnishments. This meant of course that these calculations had to be done manually. The manual process of calculating employee garnishments was an unnecessary and time-consuming procedure. They also had a problem in finding out discrepancies in employee quarterly payroll tax verifications.
To find a solution to all these payroll issues, McBride approached their Sage Abra consultant, who advised them that Employee Based Systems had developed a number of products which would be the key to solving all these payroll issues.
Solution:
The use of EZ-Time Import product helped to customize data mapping inside Sage Abra. The added functionality of the program is its ability to check and verify all information that is entered into Sage Abra, before data is posted to Sage Abra for Payroll. McBride also implemented the EZ-GARN application from EBS, which helped with its automatic calculation of employee garnishments, thus saving valuable time and increasing efficiency. The EZ-Wage and Tax application enabled the detection of various errors that occurred during employee quarterly tax calculations. Most of these errors could easily be rectified with the EZ-Garn application before posting to payroll.
